Gli olandesi Clan Of XYMOS, esorditi con il demo EP Subsequent Pleasures (Double Dutch, 1984 - Pandailectric, 2001), che comprendeva una prima versione di Muscoviet Musquito e Going Round, vennero alla ribalta con l'album Clan Of Xymos (4AD, 1985) e il singolo A Day, in cui scimmiottavano il gotico ballabile dei loro cugini britannici Sisters Of Mercy.

Dopo il secondo Medusa (4AD, 1986), con le orecchiabili Michelle e Muscoviet Musquito, il gruppo accorcio` il nome a XYMOS e punto` decisamente al successo di massa con Twist Of Shadows (Wing, 1989), da cui vennero tratti i singoli Obsession, Imagination e Blind Hearts, e con Phoenix (Wing, 1991), pilotato da Phoenix of my Heart e At the end of the day.

Con i singoli Dream On, estratto da Metamorphosis (Zok, 1992), e Spiritual High and Reaching Out, estratto invese dall’LP Headclouds (Zok, 1993), gli Ximos diventano un altro numero completo nella techno.

Dopo quattro anni di limbo, nel 1997 Ronny Moorings riforma i Clan of Xymox con l’uscita di Hidden Faces (Tess, 1997). I singoli Out of the Rain e This World sembrano infatti tornate a quell periodo, anche se con datate imitazioni dei New Order. Going Round e` quella del primo EP.

L’ LP Creatures (Pandaimonium, 1999) abbraccia invece lo stile ed i suoni dei Sisters Of Mercy (Jasmin And Rose).

 With Dream On, the lead single off Metamorphosis (Zok, 1992), and Spiritual High and Reaching Out, from Headclouds (Zok, 1993), Xymos became a full-fledged techno number.

After a four years hiatus, in 1997 Ronny Moorings reformed Clan of Xymox for Hidden Faces (Tess, 1997). The singles Out of the Rain and This World hark back to that era, with dated imitations of the New Order. Going Round e` quella del primo EP.

Creatures (Pandaimonium, 1999) embraces the Sisters Of Mercy sound (Jasmin And Rose).
