White On Blonde (Mercury, 1997) marked a 180 degree turn for Texas.
Instead of their popularized Americana, the album offered a blend of
orchestral pop, soul, hip hop and funk. The radio friendly
Black-eyed Boy (in the style of the old Tamla girl-groups),
Say What You Want, Drawing Crazy Patterns and
Halo turned it into a million seller. Suddenly, Texas were stars,
although they were not Texas anymore.
The idea was pushed to the extreme on
The Hush (Mercury, 1999), a sexy, lushy, elegant tribute to
the Abbas and the Bacharachs of world charts. The band takes on
pop (In Our Lifetime, Day After Day),
soul (Move In) and, last but not least,
disco (Tell Me The Answer, Summer Son).

What You Want, Drawing Crazy Patterns e Halo fruttarono il
milione di copie. All'improvviso i Texas erano star, sebbene non fossero pių
veramente i Texas. L'idea č stata portata all'estremo in The Hush
(Mercury, 1999), un tributo sexy, lussureggiante ed elegante agli Abba e ai
Bacharachs da classifiche. La band sperimenta pop ( In Our Lifetime, Day
After Day), soul ( Move In) e, ultima ma non meno importante, disco
( Tell Me The Answer, Summer Son).
