Finland's Es,
the brainchild of Sami Sanpakkila,
played psychedelic-folk music for guitar and keyboards on
Flick (2000)
and Kaikkenuden Kauneus Ja Kasittamattomyys (2004).
However, in between them Es released A Love Cycle (2001), an experiment
in glitch ambient music sculpted using loops from defective records.
The double-disc Sateenkaarisuudelma / Maailmankaari / Pianokaari (2005)
includes a disc of live performances.
Kiila, featuring Es' mastermind Sami Sanpakkila, was Es' twin (psychedelic-folk) soul at the time of Heartcore (2001), but,
expanded into a seven-piece ensemble, they turned more
evocative and melancholy on their second album Silmat Sulkaset (2004).
Es' Kesamaan Lapset (Fonal, 2010) was mainly devoted to the heavily
electroni 21-minute Kesamaan Lapset, one of their artistic peaks.
Sami Sanpakkila (Es) and Jan Anderzen of Kemialliset Ystavat formed
Tuusanuuskat and released
Naaksaa Naa Kyyneleet (Fonal, 2011).
