Micah Hinson, a Texas-based singer-songwriter, debuted with
The Baby and the Satellite (2001).
Fame came with a concept album about a romantic relationship,
And The Gospel Of Progress (Overcoat, 2005), that sounded unusually
mature for a 22 year-old kid
(The Day Texas Sank to the Bottom of the Sea,
Close Your Eyes,
Don't You Forget) with a rich baritone voice.
Sonically, it sounds eerily lost in a limbo halfway between orchestral pop and acoustic folk.
The gap between the two modes was better bridged by the string and horn
arrangements (and the fuller band sound) of
And The Opera Circuit (Jade Tree, 2006), notably in
She Don't Owe Me.

Micah Hinson, un cantante-cantautore texano, debutta con The Baby And The Satellite (2001). La fama arriva con And The Gospel Of Progress (Overcoat, 2005), un concept album su una relazione romantica, che suona sorprendentemente maturo per un ragazzo di 22 anni (The Day Texas Sank To The Bottom Of The Sea, Close Your Eyes, Don’t You Forget). A livello musicale sembra perdersi stranamente in un limbo a metà strada fra pop orchestrale e folk acustico.
Il distacco fra i due generi viene accorciato dagli arrangiamenti di archi e tromba (e dal suono pieno di una band) di And The Opera Circuit (Jade Tree, 2007), particolarmente in She Don’t Owe Me.
