Killers, fronted by
vocalist and keyboardist Brandon Flowers,
harked back to synth-pop of the 1980s with the singles
Mr. Brightside (2003) and
Somebody Told Me (2004).
The mediocre Hut Fuss (2004) did not do justice to those sprightly tunes.
The populist and pretentious Sam's Town (2006) pivoted around
the singles When You Were Young and Read My Mind.
Sawdust (2007) collects b-sides and remixes.
Day & Age (2008) didn't have the hits but it was finally a consistent
and eclectic album. It is telling, however, that the best song was still one
in the old synth-pop style, Human.
