Florida's
Lansing-Dreiden, the musical offshoot of a
collective of musicians, artists, writers and film-makers (apparently inspired
by two artists of the 1950s, Friedrich Lansing and Caspar Dreiden),
fronted by singer and lead guitarist Jorge Elbrecht,
harked back to synth-pop of the 1980s on
The Incomplete Triangle (2003)
and
The Dividing Island (Kemado, 2006).
After Lansing-Dreiden split, Elbrecht and most of the band moved to New York and
formed Violens, a real band with a
tighter sound devoted to
more conventional retro nostalgic melodies and rhythms on
Amoral (Friendly Fire, 2010) and True (Slumberland, 2012).
