English-born New York-based guitarist
Dan Melchior, who had debuted with bedroom psychedelic folk albums such as
This Is Not The Medway Sound (Smartguy, 2002),
Hello I'm Dan Melchior (2005) and
Fire Breathing Clones on Cellular Phones (2006),
assembled the highly creative (and bizarrely irregular) albums
Assemblage Blues (Siltbreeze, 2011),
Catbirds & Cardinals (Northern Spy, 2011),
Excerpts (& Half Speeds) (Kye, 2012),
the somber The Backward Path (Northern Spy, 2012), which contains his
most "regular" songs,
C.C.D.E. Music (Little Big Chief, 2013), which mostly consists of
abstract noise,
the no less demented, chaotic and dissonant
The Heron (Limited Appeal, 2013),
and K-85 (2013).
He also leads the Broke Revue, that released
This Love Is Real (Sympathy For The Record, 1999), Oldtime-Futureshock (Milou, 2000), Heavy Dirt (In The Red, 2001), Bitterness, Spite, Rage, & Scorn (In The Red, 2002) and O Clouds Unfold (Hook Or Crook, 2009).
Dan Melchior subverted the genre of singer-songwriter with albums that
were pure sonic abstractions.
