NeBeLNeST, a
French combo playing symphonic rock in the tradition of
Univers Zero, debuted with
Nebelnest (Laser's Edge, 1999) and refined its sound on
Nova Express (Cuneiform, 2002).
Zepto (Cuneiform, 2006) looks both back to the tradition of prog-rock
and to the future.
The smoothly-flowing atmospheric space-rock of Pillars of Birth pays
tribute to the classics, but post-rock elements
surface in several of the other tracks
(notably the convoluted ten-minute Do What Thou Wilt),
and the unstable aesthetic of post-rock affects
the more turbulent Majuns, highlighted by a melodic guitar theme,
and De Thriumpho Naturae, whose vehement and angular sound evokes Colosseum.
