Rope was the Polish trio of guitarist
Przemyslaw Drazek, bassist and vocalist Robert Iwanik and dummer Michael Kendrick that relocated to Chicago where they recorded
Widow's First Dawn (Family Vineyard, 2003) and
Heresy And Then Nothing But Tears (Family Vineyard, 2006).
Their claustrophobic sound belongs to the
virulent strand of post-rock
(Bitch Magnet,
Slint,
Don Caballero)
and is influenced by both black metal and jazz.
