Inspired by Neurosis, San Diego-based Tarantula Hawk, featuring guitarist and keyboardist Dylan Scharf, guitarist Dave Warshaw and a super-heavy rhythm section, deliver post-industrial doom and psychedelic delirium on two self-titled albums, Tarantula Hawk (Life Is Abuse, 2000), an instrumental stew that borders on both prog-metal and space-rock, and Tarantula Hawk (Neurot, 2002), which contains four intense suites and a 30-minute pseudo-ambient joke.
