Los Angeles' singer-songwriter Jillian Banks debuted with the EPs Fall Over (2013), whose Fall Over boasts a creative exotic-tinged beat, and London (2013), that contains the sensual dance-pop of Waiting Game. That mellow downtempo electronic pop-soul of the FKA Twigs era permeates her album Goddess (2014), which contains the catchy and sultry Beggin for Thread, produced by Jesse Rogg and Tim Anderson, Brain, produced by Henry "Shlohmo" Laufer, and Downing, produced by Al Shux. Then came the single Better (2015), a collaboration with Norwegian producer Peder "Lido" Losnegard. The album The Altar (2016) contains Gemini Feed, a collaboration with producer Christopher "Sohn" Taylor (already the brain behind Waiting Game), and Poltergeist, produced by John Hill, but it's mostly irrelevant muzak. She then released the singles Crowded Places (2017), a collaboration with producer Jack Antonoff, and Underdog (2017), a collaboration with producer Al Shux. III (2019) is equally bland, despite the cast of producers that craft songs like Godless (Sohn, Jesse Ward and BJ Burton), Hawaiian Mazes (by BJ Burton, Paul Epworth and Buddy Ross) and If We Were Made Of Water (Burton, Ross and Aron Forbes). Serpentina (2022) was, if possible, even worse, despite Misunderstood, a collaboration with Lido and British producer Jasmin "Tala" Tadjiky, Holding Back (Tala and Beat Butcha) and The Devil (Al Shux and Jeffrey Gitelman).
