Canadian singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen, who had already released the spartan album
Tug of War (2008), became an international star with
Call Me Maybe, off the EP Curiosity (2012), one of the biggest
hits of the time.
Kiss (2012), which incorporates the EP, indulged in that naive dance-pop style.
She tried in vain to make a clone of that hit, although
Run Away With Me, off Emotion (2015), came close.
The EP Emotion Side B (2016) added eight more songs.
mid-tempo pop-rock a` la Monkees
The single Party for One (2018), halfway between
Taylor Swift and
Katy Perry,
is catchier than anything on
Dedicated (2019), which is basically a watered-down version of
Emotion (2015).
Dedicated Side B (2020) includes Window and
Summer Love.
