Karrots, the San Francisco duo of
vocalist Russell Cowick and producer Chris Himelblau,
debuted with the eight-song mini-album Karrots I (2020) that
ranges from
Madchester pop-psychedelia (Peace) to
George Harrison-ian eastern-influenced litany (Chalk) and
freak-folk
(The Monsters).
It's an album wrapped in hippy perfumes of the 1960s, from
acid-folk (Fuschia Dell) to raga-rock (the six-minute Books) and from Byrds-ian cosmic rock (Hello Sky and Hello Flying) to
Monkees-style bubblegum- pop (Since Brooklyn).
