North Carolina's
Love Language, the project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist
Stuart McLamb, delivered the most classic of lo-fi power-pop on
The Love Language (2009), on which McLamb played all instruments
by himself (Sparxxx).
McLamb employed Phil Spector's wall of sound to arrange
Libraries (2010). Unfortunately, he retreated into trite balladry
instead of continuing to mine the lively Merseybeat singsong style that
made the debut so pleasantly naive.
