Atlanta's producer Demetrius "Shawty Redd" Stewart was one of the founding fathers of "trap music": he sculpted Terence "Drama" Cook `s debut album Causin' Drama (2000) with frenzied hi-hats, and produced most of Jay "Young Jeezy" Jenkins' Let's Get It - Thug Motivation 101 (2005) and his mixtape Streetz Iz Watchin' (2006), as well as Trap House (2005), the album that launched the career of rapper Radric "Gucci Mane" Davis.

He also produced Snoop Dogg's hit Sensual Seduction (2007), but that seemed to be the end of his career.

He released the mixtape Reloaded (2009) that went mostly unnoticed: trap music had moved on.

Redd killed a man in 2010 but was found not guilty of murder because he acted in self-defense. He was arrested on disorderly conduct charges at the end of 2019.
